Remarks

• medium sized pectinid with 14-17 ribs, each covered with 3-5 radial rows of small scales.
• colouration brown to purplish brown or yellow brown.
• Aequipecten tehuelchus madrynensis (Bavay, 1906) differs from A. tehuelchus tehuelchus by its lower number of ribs (11-14)
