Remarks

• rare pectinid only found in Hawaii
• colour normally orange - red with some white markings.
• another species of the genus: Anguipecten superbus (G. B. Sowerby II, 1842) has about 20-24 ribs on each valve compared to 38 radial ribs on Anguipecten gregoryi.
• closely related to Anguipecten lamberti (Souverbie in Souverbie & Montrouzier, 1874) from New Caledonia
