Remarks

The specimens from the Mediterranean Sea are often named Pecten bruei (Payraudeau, 1826).
In the Atlantic this species is rare. The ribs are more delicate and smaller than the species of the Mediterranean.
The pronounced primary ribs of the left valve are hollow, hiding smaller riblets which become visible when the ribs are damaged.
