Remarks

endemic to the Ogasawara Isl., Japan.
medium sized (35-50 mm) colourfull pectinid
rather close to the West African species Hinnites corallinus Sowerby I, 1827 but differs by having a shagreen (like a honeycomb) microstructure on both ears, which lacks on H. corallinus.
adult specimens are living cemented with the right valve on a hard substrate.
