Remarks

• extremely colourful big pectinid
• mostly found from Japan
• often confused with Mimachlamys gloriosa (Reeve, 1853) and Mimachlamys sanguinea (Linnaeus, 1758) but Mimachlamys crassicostata (Sowerby II, 1842) has very pronounced lamellated ribs.
  
  

  	Mimachlamys crassicostata high, well developed scales on the ribs less well developed secondary sculpture square ribs mostly found from Japan circular in shape
  	Mimachlamys gloriosa scales on the ribs less dense and more sharp raised mostly found from the Philippines, Australia to New Caldenonia more elongated shape
  	Mimachlamys sanguinea primary ribs with closely set scales mostly in several rows ribs less square scales more broad and not so sharp as M. gloriosa common pectinid found from the Indo-West Pacific more circular in shape
