Remarks

• Very colourful shell with big nodules on the ribs .
• The species from West Africa is sometimes named as Nodipecten nodosus gabonensis (Nicolay, 1981).
• Very closely related to Nodipecten fragosus (Conrad, 1849) from the northern part of the Caribbean province but N. nodosus has 9 ribs and N. fragosus has 7 or 8 ribs on the left valve
